According to Friday morning reports from the Japanese station NHK, previous Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was declared dead.
This happened shortly after him being shot while making a speech in the regional capital of Nara.
Terrible News
Prior to this weekend’s House of Representatives election, NHK reported that Abe passed at approximately 11:30 a.m. local time while making a campaign address for a Liberal Democrat Party member.
Medical experts from the Nara Medical University announced during a news conference that Abe was injured in the neck and the heart. He passed away from blood loss.
A television reporter reported seeing Abe bleeding and hearing what seemed to be two gunshots.
A male suspect “in his 40s” was apprehended on the spot, according to NHK. A pistol that seemed to be handcrafted was discovered at the site, police sources informed the channel.
Abe, a well-known personality on the international scene, served as Japan’s prime minister for the longest period of time until resigning in 2020, citing health concerns.
Before he was given the all-clear for death, European and global leaders offered their former longtime comrade supportive greetings.

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, wrote on Twitter a message that heralded the former prime minister and noted the worldwide sadness over his passing.
Shinzo Abe was the subject of an “odious attack,” according to French President Emmanuel Macron, who also sent his “thoughts to the families and the dear ones of a wonderful prime minister.”
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz expressed his shock and sadness at Shinzo Abe’s fatal attack.
In a statement made on the margins of the G20 foreign minister’s conference in Bali, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the following:
“Our heart and wishes are with him, with his family, and with the Japanese. It’s a very, extremely sad time,” he continued.
Josep Borrell, the EU’s top diplomat who is also attending the G20 summit in Bali, issued a statement mourning the world leader’s death.

Boris Johnson, the departing British prime minister, expressed his shock and sadness at Shinzo Abe’s vile comments. He subsequently remarked, “Many will recall his global leadership during uncharted times.”
Narendra Modi, the prime minister of India, expressed his deep grief at the attack on his close friend, Abe Shinzo.
“We are sending him, his wife, and the people of Japan our thoughts and prayers. After learning of Abe’s passing, Modi declared July 9 to be a day of the mourning period in India.”
