The US Army suspended a retired three-star general over his social media post against first lady Jill Biden.
Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky slammed the first lady over her abortion comments, which urged the military to suspend him from the service.
Three-Star General Suspended for Mocking Jill Biden
After the landmark verdict of the Supreme Court restricting abortion in the Roe v. Wade case, first lady Jill Biden criticized the top court over the verdict.
She wrote on Twitter that women cannot sit silently and would stand for their rights. In response to this tweet, Gen. Volesky wrote he was glad Jill Biden “finally knew what a woman is.”
This tweet resulted in his suspension, as the army launched an investigation into the matter.
An army spokeswoman, Cynthia Smith, told different media outlets Commander General of the Combined Arms Center, Lt. Gen. Theodore Martin, suspended Volesky. This means he will not be able to do his duties as a “highly qualified expert.”
Before the controversial episode, the general was paid $92 an hour for his mentorship work post-retirement.

His job duties included mentoring in-service army officers, students, and staffers. He remained one of the most accomplished veterans in the army and served as the chief of the public affairs division of the US Armed Forces.
Similarly, he led many military formations and served in the Afghanistan war, Iraq War, and the Gulf War. For his remarkable efforts, he was awarded a Silver Star, which is the third-highest honor for any military personnel in the United States.
Volesky Canceled for Defining Woman
In his comments, Volesky was referring to the ongoing far-left gender dysphoria movement, in which liberals seem to diminish physical boundaries between biological males and females.
Some experts are tying Volesky’s response with Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s answer to Sen. Marsha Blackburn, in which the liberal nominee noted she does not know the definition of a woman.

This is not the first time that Volesky responded to political comments on social media.
Last year, he criticized the decision of Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who announced to join the January 6 House committee, stating her oath is beyond “partisan politics.”
Responding to this, Volesky noted the January 6 investigation is itself “all about partisan politics.”
While the involvement of military personnel in politics is not normal in the US, many serving, as well as retired personnel, have previously endorsed their favorite candidates.
For example, retired Gen. John Allen backed Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election. Gen. Michael Flynn campaigned for a jail term for Clinton. Later on, Flynn served as the national security adviser of Donald Trump.
Similarly, retired General Stanley McChrystal labeled then-President Trump as “immoral.” Another Navy Admiral, William McRaven, criticized Trump for disrespecting “every major US institution” in his op-ed in the Washington Post.
Usually, army personnel abstains from criticizing the commander-in-chief, so McRaven’s remarks drew severe criticism from both the sitting and the retired generals. Even Trump himself dismissed the allegations, calling McRaven a “Hillary Clinton fan.”
