Democrats are infuriated by the White House. They say it is slow to solve a never-ending domino effect of problems in an unceasing news cycle.
They refer to the latest baby formula scarcity as evidence that President Biden has continued to fail to get in front of the story, letting Republicans frame it as another White House failing.
Biden’s discrepancy on inflation, as well as gas prices, was also highlighted.
Series of Problems
Democrats were also upset when a federal court in Florida lifted the airline mask demand in April and when an unreleased draft of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision was publicly disclosed.
Both events shocked Washington quite broadly — not just the White House. Christy Setzer, a Democratic analyst, said the White House has been naive in recent months.
At least five times over the last couple of weeks, according to the White House, Biden has invoked the Defense Production Act to have baby formula moved into the U.S.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre noted Biden’s “multiple crises” last week.
Biden’s poll numbers began falling in August last year when he pulled the last troops out of Afghanistan after 20 years.
Biden never recovered. Biden’s approval rating is in the 40s. However, Biden’s approval rating rose six points to 42% last week, from a historic low.
After Biden’s prime-time message calling for a ban on assault weapons and other reforms after the Uvalde, Texas school shooting, Democrats criticized the timing.
Furthermore, after arriving from a multi-day overseas trip, Biden gave a speech the evening after the shooting, but it was more about appealing to the people to halt mass shootings.
A crisis is nothing new for the Biden White House. Health experts have praised the president’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, especially his efforts to distribute the vaccines to the public.

Since Biden’s first week in office, other troubles, like rising prices and gun violence, have piled up on his desk.
The country-wide baby formula shortage is the latest dilemma to test the White House.
Admission and Communication
First, a Democratic analyst said Biden’s April admission about the baby formula scarcity “seems like bad admin staff.” The strategist said, “You should know what’s coming.”
The White House says the FDA and other officials have looked into the issue since the factory closed in February.
The presidency has received praise for its handling of Russia’s war in Ukraine, how authorities have used information, and how Biden united allies behind a consistent method of penalizing the Kremlin.
The White House is looking to rebound on other obstacles, including the incipient Supreme Court ruling anticipated to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The White House held listening sessions with state lawmakers, advocacy groups, and other interested parties to understand abortion laws before the decision is made later this month.
Rodell Mollineau, a former aide to Harry Reid, said there are no “quick fixes” for many of Biden’s problems. Biden should do what he does best to promote his message, said Mollineau.
