Liz Cheney Sends a Strong Message to Republicans About Trump

For months on end, the January 6 committee has been digging into the events that took place during the Capitol riots in early 2021.

The committee’s heard all sorts of testimony from people in then-President Trump’s inner circle, his advisers, family members, etc.

Moreover, the committee claimed Trump is more than welcome to give his own testimony; though it doesn’t appear that this will happen anytime soon.

Late last month, Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide of Trump, testified during the Capitol riots last year, Trump became irate when Secret Service wouldn’t take him to the building amid protests.

Hutchinson then swore that the former president, at one point, physically accosted a Secret Service agent and even tried to seize the wheel of the moving car. Trump, meanwhile, denies this entirely.

Secret Service members have also expressed a willingness to testify under oath that this never happened.

Now, Rep. Liz Cheney, a Wyoming Republican and member of the January 6 committee, is warning the GOP about Trump, per Washington Examiner.

Cheney: It’s Trump or the Constitution

On Wednesday, Cheney gave an address at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute. During this juncture, the congresswoman spoke about the 2020 presidential election, the January 2021 riots, and her view on Trump.

According to Cheney, the Republican Party doesn’t have the option of being loyal to both the former president and the Constitution of the United States.

Furthermore, it is the Wyoming Republican’s view that Trump has an agenda to dismantle America’s constitutional republic.

Cheney also stated clearly that multiple GOP members are being held “hostage” by the former president whom she billed as “irrational” and “dangerous.”

GOP Backlash Against Cheney

Across the country, countless Republicans have expressed reservations about the January 6 committee and its true intentions.

Already, the committee got off to a contentious start when the officials House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy wanted on the committee were ultimately frozen out by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

There are very strong opinions that perceive this committee as a partisan weapon designed to take down Trump, his supporters, and ultimately impede a 2024 presidential run from Trump.

Meanwhile, the former president is backing a primary challenger against Cheney in Wyoming. This comes on top of Trump’s warning that the committee is not truly serious about getting to the bottom of what happened.

Trump maintains that if the committee were to actually do a deep dive into 2020 election fraud, they’d uncover details that aren’t so comfortable to them.

What do you think about Liz Cheney’s latest comments concerning former President Trump and the US Constitution? Do you think she’s going to be able to change any minds about the committee? Please don’t hesitate to let us know in the comments section down below.
