Putin’s Army Stops in Its Tracks

In televised comments, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered his defense minister, Sergei Shoigu, to give troops who took the city a break. Putin then told Shoigu to rely on other units to conduct military actions.

This was done to make a public exhibition of Lysychansk’s capture. Holding Lysychansk, according to the Ukrainian military, would have “fatal repercussions,” given Russia’s advantage in artillery, aircraft, ammo, and men.

Following Russia’s war, which left cities in ruins, millions of people homeless, and the economy in ruins, Ukraine provided a model for rehabilitation.

The strategy, which was revealed during a two-day event in the Swiss city of Lugano, calls for infrastructure, environmental, and technological investments.

The prime minister of Ukraine proposed using frozen Russian assets to cover the majority of the $700 billion needed for rebuilding.

The Situation on the Ground

After taking over Lysychansk, Russia shifted its attention westward into Donetsk and stepped up shelling of the area, according to Ukrainian officials.

In the last 24 hours, Moscow’s soldiers have also targeted residential neighborhoods, where they killed nine civilians and injured 25 more.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russia is seeking to thwart flanking maneuvers launched by Kyiv forces in the northeast Kharkiv region, as well as the southern Kherson and Mykolayiv districts.

Russia’s wheat exports from Ukraine are being obstructed.

During a discussion with Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson in Kyiv, Zelensky stated Ukraine is cooperating with the UN and Turkey to prevent “civilized countries” from importing its grain that has been unlawfully exported by Russia.

According to Zelensky, unclogging grain imports from Ukraine is challenging, yet doable, and he thinks the UN is prepared to take the lead in making it happen.

He stated all ships must have security assurances, with the exception of those from Russia, whom Ukraine does not trust.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine anticipates harvesting 60 million metric tonnes of grain this fall, but Russia already banned 22 million tonnes from entering its ports.

He declared, “We need to sell all the grain”

During the discussion, Sweden’s Andersson stated the best approach to end Russia’s war is to raise assistance for Ukraine and put sanctions on the country.

Last week, Russia filled key positions in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of eastern Ukraine, which Moscow supports as a separatist state.

Russian crude supply to significant Asian markets is in trouble. In the seven days leading up to July 1st, Russia’s maritime crude exports recovered from the prior week’s decline.

However, exports to Asia are declining, despite flows being transferred to the country’s Black Sea port to shorten the journey to India.

Despite a brief pause in exports from the Baltic port of Primorsk, overall crude flows through Russian ports increased week over week by 23%. This represents a recovery of the majority of quantity lost over the past seven days.
