ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan unleashed a scathing rebuke against Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, accusing him of siding with criminal illegal aliens over law enforcement officers who risk their lives protecting Americans.
Federal Official Calls Out Democratic Leadership
ICE Deputy Director Madison Sheahan delivered a pointed critique of Illinois Governor JB Pritzker during her September 16 appearance on “Fox & Friends.” Sheahan accused Pritzker and other Democratic leaders of consistently prioritizing the protection of criminal illegal aliens over the safety of federal law enforcement officers. Her comments followed a violent confrontation where an ICE officer was seriously injured after being dragged by a suspect’s vehicle during an arrest operation near Chicago.
The incident involved Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, who allegedly dragged an ICE officer with his car while attempting to evade arrest. The confrontation escalated when the officer, fearing for his life, fatally shot Villegas-Gonzalez in self-defense. The injured ICE agent has since returned home and is recovering from the ordeal that highlights the dangerous conditions federal officers face in sanctuary jurisdictions.
Sanctuary Policies Under Fire
Sheahan’s criticism extends beyond this single incident to broader concerns about Illinois’ sanctuary policies that limit cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. The state’s resistance to ICE operations creates dangerous situations where criminal illegal aliens feel emboldened to resist arrest, knowing local authorities will not fully support federal efforts. This lack of cooperation undermines the rule of law and puts both federal agents and innocent Americans at risk.
Governor Pritzker responded by demanding more transparency from ICE regarding the incident, claiming the agency provided insufficient information. However, Sheahan countered that ICE maintains appropriate transparency while conducting ongoing investigations. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson also criticized what he termed “reckless, unconstitutional, militarized immigration enforcement,” further demonstrating the Democratic hostility toward legitimate federal law enforcement operations that protect American communities.
Operation Midway Blitz Targets Criminal Aliens
The deadly confrontation occurred during ICE’s “Operation Midway Blitz,” launched in early September 2025 to target criminal illegal immigrants in the Chicago area. The operation was prompted by tragic incidents like the death of Katie Abraham, killed in a hit-and-run by an illegal migrant. Joe Abraham, Katie’s father, has advocated for stronger enforcement to prevent other families from experiencing similar losses due to preventable crimes committed by individuals who should not be in the country.
Despite ongoing resistance from Illinois Democratic officials, ICE continues making arrests of criminal illegal immigrants who pose threats to public safety. The operation represents a commitment to enforcing federal immigration law and removing dangerous individuals from American communities, regardless of local political opposition that prioritizes ideology over citizen safety.
