A Cincinnati Montessori teacher faces termination after posting a TikTok video lamenting that an assassination attempt on President Trump failed, sparking nationwide outrage and calls for immediate action from parents, lawmakers, and education officials.
Teacher’s Shocking Social Media Post
Corinne Baum, identified through LinkedIn as an educator at The Children’s House private Montessori school in Cincinnati, posted a video expressing disappointment upon learning Trump survived an April 26 attack. In the recording, she referenced other creators who predicted Friday could be a significant day, then stated she woke up to news—but not the news she hoped for. The implication was clear: she wanted the president dead.
The incident occurred after 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California, charged a security checkpoint, exchanged gunfire with Secret Service agents, and was tackled before reaching the president. One agent was struck but protected by body armor. Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials evacuated safely without injury. Allen’s manifesto revealed he targeted administration members specifically.
Public Backlash and Consequences
Social media erupted after Libs of TikTok shared Baum’s video, with users quickly uncovering additional posts showcasing extreme political views. Parents and conservative commentators demanded her immediate termination and credential review by the Ohio Department of Education. The Children’s House website crashed under heavy traffic as concerned citizens contacted the school. Ohio’s educator misconduct reporting system received numerous complaints about Baum’s conduct and fitness to teach children.
Suspect’s Background Raises Questions
Allen was a teacher who received recognition as Teacher of the Month in December 2024, raising concerns about radicalization among educators. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed Allen faces federal charges including using a firearm during a crime of violence and assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon. His arraignment was scheduled for Monday. Surveillance footage captured Allen sprinting past metal detectors before engaging in a firefight with protective agents.
What This Means
This incident highlights growing concerns about political extremism among educators trusted with children’s development and safety. The swift public response demonstrates Americans’ expectation that teachers maintain professional standards and refrain from celebrating political violence, regardless of personal beliefs. Parents nationwide now question vetting processes at private and public schools, demanding transparent accountability when educators cross ethical boundaries.
